Five-axis vertical deep hole drill is an advanced equipment specially used for processing deep holes (generally, the ratio of hole depth to hole diameter is greater than 6). It is mainly composed of drill rod, drill bit, guide block, cutting fluid channel and five-axis linkage control system. The drill rod is responsible for transmitting torque and feed force, the drill bit undertakes the task of cutting materials, the guide block guarantees the straightness and accuracy of drilling, and the cutting fluid channel is used for conveying cooling lubricant.


The working principle is as follows: during processing, the high pressure cutting fluid enters the cutting area with strong pressure through the cutting fluid channel. On the one hand, the cutting fluid cools the tool and workpiece sufficiently to prevent increased tool wear and workpiece deformation due to high temperature; On the other hand, it helps to discharge chips, solving the problem of difficult chip removal during deep hole drilling. At the same time, the drill bit rotates at high speed driven by the drill rod and gradually penetrates into the workpiece along the set feed direction to process the hole to the required depth. The five-axis linkage control system enables the drill to move and adjust the angle in five different directions, which greatly expands the flexibility and complexity of processing, and can realize the deep hole processing of various complex shapes of workpieces, such as some parts of the aircraft engine.


Compared with the horizontal deep hole drill, the five-axis vertical deep hole drill has obvious advantages in processing some specific workpiece. Most of the horizontal deep hole drills are of horizontal structure. The cutter bar is limited by the hole diameter, with poor rigidity and low strength. It is easy to produce vibration, ripple and other problems that affect the machining accuracy during cutting. The vertical structure of five-axis vertical deep hole drill reduces the influence of cutter bar gravity on the machining accuracy to a certain extent, and the five-axis linkage function makes it more advantageous in machining the deep hole of complex curved surface.
